Earth’s Biggest Radio Telescope

It has been receiving very little media attention, but it may surprise you to know Australia is currently developing and hosting the biggest radio telescope array to have ever existed ON EARTH, please note the emphasis on Earth, not the universe. We don’t know if  earthlings’ can take credit is the biggest radio telescope in existence, a another civilization could be building an even bigger out there somewhere. The project is entitled SKA, which stands for “Square Kilometre Array” and a big part of the telescope is taking part in Australia’s very own backyard.  Have a listen as Victor Petrovic spoke to Australian Astronomers at large Fred Watson, from the Department of innovation of science.

Don’t forget to look up at night, or this case, point your radio telescope at the closest super nova!
