How Education can Close the Gap

The gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Australia is getting bigger. Health in particular remains a big issue, but big efforts are being made in education. The Wingara Mura – Bunga Barra-bugu program at Sydney University is back for 2016. It’s a program that allows Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders from around the country to come and experience University life – to get a taste for what is possible.

This year marks 60 years since Charlie Perkins became the first Aboriginal man to graduate from an Australian University and this program aims to make it easier for others to follow his lead.

To talk more about the program and how it works we are joined by University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Strategy and Services) Professor Shane Houston
