Eidolon: Xanthe Dobbie

Do you know why Google Images was created? 💭

This week, Ellen spoke to new media artist, Xanthe Dobbie, who has created the desktop performance, ‘Eidolon’, as part of Sydney Opera House’s digital program, Shortwave.

Merging past, present, and potential futures, this desktop performance dredges the internet, conflating facts and fictions in an act of post-truth digital myth-making.

Xanthe Dobbie is an Australian new media artist and filmmaker. Working across on- and offline modes of making, Dobbie’s practice aims to capture the experience of contemporaneity as reflected through queer and feminist ideologies. Drawing on humour, pop, sex, history and iconography, they develop shrines to a post-truth era.
