Electric vehicles: the good, the bad and the ugly
Busy roads and dirty emissions are prime culprits for accelerating climate change. To help keep our air clean, The Greens are looking at replacing the sale of petrol and diesel cars with electric vehicles by 2030. But are electric cars as great as they’re cracked up to be?
Electric vehicles are currently only manufactured outside of Australia, so for the market to boom in the ways that The Greens are predicting, these cars would have to be imported. However, there are issues that lie at the bottom of the production chain, where low-income countries that supply the raw materials are being exploited.
