Entries open for Belvoir’s prestigious Balvanes Indigenous Playwright Fellowship

What do Australian theatre works like The Drover’s Wife, Kill the Messenger and The Rover all have in common? They’re all award-winning, critically-acclaimed plays created by previous winners of the Belvoir Street Theatre’s Indigenous Playwright Award, funded by the philanthropic Balnaves Foundation.

In recent years, the Award has helped spark an exciting new ‘movement’ in Indigenous theatre-making, drawing packed crowds to theatres across Australia. Now, the Belvoir is accepting entries for the 2018 Award (now a “Fellowship”), which has been broadened to encompass directors, playwrights and writer/directors and Louise Gough, the Head of New Work at the Belvoir joins us for a chat. Entries close at 6pm on August 6th (Apply Here).
