While many Australians may agree the work of reconciliation is up to everyone, not many people understand what this work looks like. 

One Indigenous scholar says non-Indigenous people often don’t know how they should address racism and social inequity brought about by colonisation and white privilege. This may be why many Australians are expressing hope the Voice to Parliament is going to solve such problems.

Indigenous leaders, scholars, activists and community members have spent decades suggesting solutions to inequities in this country, which still haven’t been implemented.

The Wire’s Aryana Mohmood spoke to the Associate Dean of Education at Gnibi College, Southern Cross University, Kelly Menzel, about what reconciliation looks like and how to address the problems Indigenous people face due to colonisation and white privilege…
