EP. 4 – She-flation & Queer Representation in Sport
This week after an exciting Radiothon, Yours, Mine & Femme! is back and ready to explore femininity outside of the patriarchy! On this week’s episode Belle & Beth bring back one of our favourite segments, Gender Gap, where we look at various gender disparities. The episode we look at the increase of the national gender pay gap, which according to recent statistics has risen to 14.1%! With this in conjunction with the rise of inflation, experts are worried about the impact this will have on women, thus labelling it ‘She-flation!’.
Don’t worry, it’s not all doom and gloom! Later in the episode we debut a brand new segment titled Pop Tart, where explore all things pop culture. This week we are looking at the new series reboot of the 1992 film ‘A league of their own’, which focuses on something the original movie ognires – queerness!
Take a listen to the latest episode with Associate Professor Sue Williamson from UNSW and PhD candidate Mersini Karkoulas, from the University of Wollongong, where we talk about ‘She-flation’ and queer representation in sport!
