EP 4 – YMF Explained: Roe vs. Wade
This week on Yours, Mine & Femme! we premiered our first ‘YMF Explained’ episode, where we break down complicated or confusing issues affecting female/feminine identifying persons! This week we’re breaking down the current situation regarding Roe v. Wade case in America and what this means for reproductive rights. Roe v. Wade was the landmark 1973 decision that guaranteed abortion as a constitutional right, however recently a leaked document by POLITICO shows the Supreme Court has voted to strike down the decision in an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito. Whilst the anti-abortion movement here in Aus. is small, it does include notable politicians such as Barnaby Joyce, Alex Antic and Matt Canavan. What kind of impact could the over-turn of Roe v. Wade have? Will this lead to an emboldened anti-abortion movement here Aus.?
Bella and Beth spoke to UNSW’s Professor Rosalind Dixon, to explain the case of Roe. V. Wade!
