Pocket money to gold

When former schoolmates, Alvin Singh and Bosco Tan from Bexley’s Sydney Tech High School are in the office, they’re actually working out of Alvin ‘s apartment in Wolli Creek Sydney.

The boys have jokingly renamed the suburb “Silicon Creek” – referring to the amount of computer programming that goes into their user friendly interface.

Both Alvin and Bosco gave up stable jobs and steady income streams in order to nurture their start up and help hundreds of financially confused consumers online.

In these times when consumers are juggling more than one bank account, ALVIN & BOSCO’s new phone app, POCKETBOOK, is a tool for customers to take control.

Via Pockebook, you are able to track your income, spending, bills and your online banking account. For absolutely free.

Reporter Kim Tan catches up with Pocketbook developer and co-founder Alvin Singh and finds out about how the idea for the software started.

The real Argentina

A lot has been said about the financial situation in Argentina.

With mountains of debt to service and questionable reporting to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), it is easy to see that this is a country in crisis.

Reporter Sorrel Kesby filed this report with On the Money when on a trip to capital Buenos Aires. She believes that much more needs to be done about the dire situation unfolding on the streets of this once affluent and proud city. In Buenos Aires whole families face the reality of living on the street due to high unemployment and underhanded social welfare programs.

She spoke with Buenos Aires resident and teacher Larna about what she believes is the biggest contributing factor to this problem.
