Randwick Barracks Defence site Contamination
Bundock St Defence site (Kingsford) has had many contaminants like Asbestos, Arsenic, Deldrin, PCB, Dioxin, on it during over 100 years of Defence use. Reporter Roderick Chambers attended a Moverly Precinct Committee public meeting attended by Federal Candidates Prof Michael Feneley (Lib) and James Macdonald (Grn) Mayor of Randwick Tony Bowen (ALP) and several councillors from Randwick Council.
Residents voiced their concerns over ‘piles of asbestos’ and other contaminants in the middle of a busy urban area with community centres, schools and homes all affected.
Defence Homes are also currently in the courts over development of a section of the site “the Bermuda triangle” adjoining the sensitive Environment Park.
