In recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in 1980s synthpop and new wave music. This genre of music, characterized by its heavy use of synthesizers and electronic instruments, gained popularity in the 80s with artists such as Depeche Mode, New Order, and Duran Duran. Today on teh show I drop a few favourites in anticipation of the SWEET DREAMS event happening on Saturday 1st April at the Oxford Arts Gallery. Paris Groovescooter and myself will be taking the time machine full throttle back into the hedonism of the eighties. This will be a night of ballroom classics and underground anthems from SYNTHPOP to POST-PUNK: Billy Idol, Blondie, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Devo, Petshop Boys – Plus, the mysterious DOCTOR ROBOT transports in for a cheeky live set of 80s inspired electro.
