This week I delve into the new release bag, as so much good music has come out of recent. French vocalist Sly Johnson drops a heavy soul album on BBE. You might remember him from his work in the Paris Hip Hop scene back in the day. Speaking of Hip Hop, I recently picked up the new album by Señor Kaos & Illastrate. It’s a great collection of sample-based Hip Hop, and you can expect that I’ll be dropping some tunes from the album in the coming weeks (as I do today). Kid Capri also released a new album recently that largely went under the radar, but it has a couple of great club joints on there – and I drop one in the mastermix today. The Bamboos out of Melbourne are on the eve of dropping a new album. I give their brand new single featuring the unmistakable voice of Kylie Auldist a test drive. A Skillz & Krafty Kuts are back – and they deliver an amazing new broken beat release with Gizelle Smith on vocals. Heading into the housier end of the mix, Crackazat out of Sweden just dropped his brand new album, and it’s incredible. I can’t wait to play a track from the album on today’s show. I also squeeze in new releases from Sam Redmore, who just dropped a great rework of the classic Giorgio Moroder tune Tears. The Sunburst Band gets a Dan Swindle remix that hit’s all the right notes – Plus a brand new release on the Favourite record label out of Paris sees Patchworks remixing Voilaa. And finally, a little reminder of the brilliance of Depeche Mode, after hearing the sad news that keyboardist Andy Fletcher passed away overnight.
