Ning la-ana – Hungry for our Land – In 1972 Italian filmmaker Interviewee: Alessandro Cavadini, seeked out the Aboriginal community in Redfern to seek permission to shadow the Aboriginal Tent Embassy organisers as they protested in the lawns of Parliament House. Key to their protest is the beach umbrella they set up to represent the Aboriginal Tent Embassy and their most forward stand for land rights to date. The government of the day was not interested in land rights. Alessandro’s film titled: Ning la-ana, is now considered to be a significant cultural artefact documenting one of the most important movement in Aboriginal people’s struggle for land rights. His film brought the issue of Aboriginal Australian land rights into the world stage. Reporter/Producer: Annamarie Reyes
