Expected new clinical trials for faecal transplant pills in Australia

Curtin University and the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood are partnering to develop innovative faecal transplant pills for clinical trials.

This new method aims to make faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) more accessible and patient-friendly by using oral capsules instead of traditional, more invasive methods.

The collaboration leverages Curtin University’s biotechnology expertise and Lifeblood’s experience in blood and tissue services to address current challenges in the transplant.

The Wire’s Vanessa Gatica spoke with Dr Hani Al-Salami, a Senior Lecturer at Curtin University, who emphasised the partnership’s potential to significantly improve patient care.
