Extreme Bushfires Causing Prolonged Impacts For First Responders
A new study has been released by Monash University, looking at the impacts of extreme bushfires for emergency workers.
The severity of events like Black Saturday in 2009 and the Black Summer fires of 2019 to 2020 have shown continued effects physically and mentally, especially among the more senior personnel.
Professor Karen Walker-Bone from Monash University and Co-Author of the study spoke with The Wire’s Zachary Probert to further discuss the study and what it means for emergency workers.
