Fake Honey Scandal
Last week the news broke that almost half of a selection of supermarket honey samples from supermarket shelves were mixed with something other than nectar from bees.
A leading international scientific lab that specialises in honey fraud detection testing identified Capilano’s Allowrie-branded Mixed Blossom Honey as adulterated in the majority of sample tests.
These and other results are set to ignite a storm over how honey purity is tested that could involve the Federal Government as well as local and international regulators. Supermarket chain, ALDI has already moved to pull any affected product from its shelves as a precaution.
Tess was joined by Jodie Goldsworthy, Director of Beechwood Honey Group to break down the fake honey scandal.
