Fashion to Federal Politics – Zampatti daughter, Allegra Spender on her bid for Wentworth
Allegra Spender, daughter of Australian fashion designer Carla Zampatti and Liberal MP John Spender last month announced her intention to run as an Independent for the seat of Wentworth in next year’s federal election.
The CEO of the Australian Business Community Network and an advocate for renewable energy, Ms Spender says the government’s stance on climate change was the driving force for her decision to run.
Her bid which challenges the Liberal incumbent, Dave Sharma, is part of a growing movement of business-oriented, climate-focused female independent candidates who threaten the Liberals’ hold on inner-urban seats once considered theirs.
Allegra joined Tina Quinn on The Daily to talk about her mission to promote tougher climate action.
