Ahora by Melenas

The Feature Album this week on 2SER is Ahora (“Now”), by Spanish four-piece Melanas.

For their third album, the Pamplona based indie group chose to augment their more traditional rock sound with  synthesisers. It’s a move that could have gone wrong, but not here.

Ahora  is a heady trip through electronica soaked post-punk, krautrock and psychedelia, a record that is imbued with a sense of togetherness as it bubbles across ten tracks of bright catchy hooks , arpeggiated swirls and reverb-laden guitars as the band expertly ride a tightrope between pop sensibilities and weirder, mechanical impulses.
