Dirt by Ainsley Farrell

The Feature Album this week is “DIRT” by Sydney/Eora-based artist Ainsley Farrell. 

A longtime favourite at 2SER, it’s a record that has been gradually arriving over a number of years via a number of fantastic slow-burning and emotively charged singles. The full release is a wide ranging collection of melodic folk rock that latches into warm, smoky grooves and deteriorated soundscapes as it ebbs and flows across a dozen songs.

A pervasive sense of loss and anxiety underpins much of the songs here, sublimated by aching lyrics which sit front and centre and  showcase Farrell’s commanding vocal talent and songwriting skill. Recorded on the NSW Central Coast with Tim Harvey, this is a real gem of tender, expressive songcrafting and highly recommended.
