The Feature Album this week on 2SER is From Time to Time, the scintillating third record from Eggy!

The Naarm quintet have long been operating at a virtuosic level as a live group with their unique fusion of retro-futurist styles. For their third studio record they blaze together through a vintage analogue odyssey of cerebral psychedelia, pulsing krautrock and abstracted poetry. Eggy experimented with a range of unconventional combinations on this record, throwing in analogue synthesisers, cello, guitars and vintage drum machines, garageband string patches and auto tuned vocals.

It also marks a subtle structural shift in their sound, incorporating  a smoother, more progressive and looser style of arrangement in comparison to the more angular precision of their previous work. Despite the kooky themes and oddball references, it’s serious hard-boiled musicianship right there in plain sight throughout and a masterclass of an album. Essential listening.
