FEATURE ALBUM
I am the River, The River is me by Jen Cloher
The Feature Album this week on 2SER is by esteemed Naarm-based artist Jen Cloher.
I am the river, the river is me is their fifth studio album, and the first in as many years.
Sung in a combination of Maori and English, this is a free flowing record of surging, uplifting protest folk-rock that explores culture, history and the effects of colonialism on both individual and shared identity, as well as the search for community in it’s various guises and places.
And fittingly, Cloher drew on a host of friends and musical allies to craft this record, including Emma Donovan, Kylie Auldist, Liz Stringer, Te Kaahu , Ruby Solly and members of Te Hononga o ngā Iwi.
I am the river, the river is me is out now via Milk! Records and Remote Control on vinyl and digital.
