FEATURE ALBUM

NARA by Emily Wurramara

The Feature Album this week on 2SER is Nara, the second studio record from  poet and musician Emily Wurramara.

More than five years in the making, Nara is a stylistic shift for the Meanjin-based artist and a masterclass in multi-genre experimentation, taking in soul, folk, rocksteady, pop and much more, and includes a multitude of collaborators including rapper Tasman Keith, Western Australia poet Arringari as well as Zeppelin Hamilton of Velvet Trip.

Nara translates from language as “Nothing”, and is a reference to a house fire in which Wurramara lost everything, and much of the record is connected to themes of overcoming hardship.

Very much worth the wait and highly recommended

Nara is out now via ABC music on vinyl and digital. Tune in all this week to hear it playing in full on Breakfast, Drive and the Daily on 2SRE!
