FEATURE ALBUM

Oyster Cuts by Quivers

The Feature Album this week on 2SER is Oyster Cuts, the fourth studio record from Quivers.

Originating in Hobart, and now based in Melbourne, the quartet have recently signed with Merge records a delivered a pearl here. Quivers are: Sam Nicholson (Guitar),, Bella Quinlan (Bass) Holly Thomas (Drums) and Michael Panton (guitar) – all share vocal duties

Influenced by the melodies of 80s Australiana, Oyster Cuts is a mesmerizing excursion through watery guitar pop on a brilliantly conceived fourth studio record. Incorporating tape loops, synthesised keys and drum machines, this one is more pared back and rhythm-focused in comparison to earlier albums (such as 2021’s Golden Doubt LP), but it packs no less weight and is a beautifully crafted indie-pop record from top to tail, dripping with emotion and harmony.

Oyster Cuts is out now via Merge Records on vinyl and digital

Quivers will be touring Oyster Cuts September to November (AU/US/EU), and will be performing at Waywards at The Bank Hotel on November 2n.
