The Way on is the Way off by The Native Cats

The Feature album this week on 2SER is from Lutrawita/Hobart duo The Native Cats. 

Since 2008, the musical union of bassist Julian Teakle and singer and electronics operator Chloe Alison Escott has yielded a series of compelling releases which have garnered worldwide attention and touring.

Their fifth studio album, and the first on the iconic Chapter Music, The Way on is the Way off is a real gem of stark aesthetics and twisted logic. Self-described as a personal salve to pandemic era loneliness, isolation and despair, it’s a record that gels as a complete whole via deconstructed post-punk driven by raw minimalist instrumentation, menacing synthscapes and unique style of theatrical spoken-word prose. It’s an exceptional  piece of work from start to finish and highly recommended.
