Warrangu; River Story by Dobby

The Feature Album this week on 2SER is Warrangu; River Story the debut album from Filipino and Murrawarri composer, rapper, producer and drummer Dobby.

Written over five years Fusing hip hop, crisp beats, spoken word audio samples and orchestral elements, the Warrangu (meaning River or Water Source) emerged from live performance and is a storytelling record that attempts to bring awareness of water theft and environmental degradation in the Murray Darling basin as a result of over-irrigation and the loss of traditional fishing, as well as being the soundtrack to the community-driven opposition to this.
