Fig trees and Aboriginal artefacts under threat from construction

If you’ve driven past Moore Park or on ANZAC Parade recently you would have seen the frontline of a war currently underway. That war is between protesters and the construction of light rail. Local concerned residents are concerned that a number of rare and beautiful trees are under threat from the construction – not to mention almost 50,000 Aboriginal artefacts recently discovered by excavators.

But calls to halt or even slow the construction are being unanswered by state government. So just what are the issues with the Light Rail and what will its effect be on the local area?

We were joined by John Bellamy of the Sydney Light Rail Action Group.
