Find A Farmer
Australian farmers growing fruit and vegetables are having to plough in crops in response to market demands and wholesale prices. James Smith from SoHip Organics launched “Find A Farmer” with the intention of helping farmers sell more produce and consumers buy direct.
Since going live on the 21st of January 2024, the site has over 100 farmers Australia wide and is climbing.
2ser’s Willy Russo spoke with James about how some growers face the tough decision of ploughing in crops leading to a loss, rather face an even larger deficit if they were to harvest, transport and sell at wholesale prices.
The farmers signing on to Find A Farmer are not only interested in the potential commercial benefits of selling direct, but also the community connection that comes from knowing your customers.
