Fire Song: Heritage and Ambition at the Mardi Gras Film Festival
The Mardi Gras Film Festival features some of the best of gay, lesbian, trans and queer cinema from around the world. One of the final films of the festival is Fire Song, a Canadian film about Shane, a young First Nations man torn between staying in his isolated town for his family or leaving to explore the possibilities of the world outside with his secret boyfriend David. Sean Britten spoke to the actor who play Shane, Andrew Martin, on the day of the film’s premiere at the festival.
