First Nations’ communities urge QLD premier to reconsider Truth-telling and Healing Inquiry
First Nations elders and Community leaders are urging the new QLD premier David Crisafulli to reconsider his decision to scrap the Truth telling and healing inquiry.
The inquiry was part of the state government’s Path to Treaty Act- which Crisafulli has vowed to repeal, despite being passed in parliament with bipartisan support in 2023.
On Thursday, the LNP leader told media the upcoming truth-telling hearings in Cherbourg and Minjerribah/Terrangerri (Stradbroke Island) would not be going ahead.
