Fish Markets get big for Chinese New Year

Sydney sees the biggest celebrations of the Chinese (also known as Lunar) New Year outside of Asia. And there’s plenty for you to see and explore to bring in the Year of the Dog both today and over the next two weeks.

To kick things off tonight, there’s the first ever Chinese New Year Night Markets at the Sydney Fish Markets, a place that’s visited frequently by Chinese locals and visitors from abroad – all hearing of it by word of mouth. On this beautiful summery, Friday evening, they’ll have noisy and colourful lion dancers from 5:40pm, fortune cookies and red envelopes for everyone and loads of great food.

We speak with Stephanie Williams, Marketing and Communications Manager for Sydney Fish Market about the exciting event and what you can look forward to chowing down. Doors swing open 4pm!
