Fishing Management Adopting Video Streaming Technology
Treatment of marine life has always found themselves among the headlines. Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA), have begun exploring an ambitious plan of ‘ship-to-shore’ communication. They have sparked the possibility of establishing a live-streaming service that records the activity on fishing vessels. What they hope for, however, is that this service may provide transparency on any controversial activity that may appeal to media headlines. Chief executives of the AFMA in particular, reveal that questions over their handling of a high-profile brush between a whale shark could have easily been brought to rest if these facilities were already in practise. Although these facilities seem to provide a plausible solution, there is a lot more that needs to be considered with this ‘easy fix.’
