Communities have been evacuated north of Cooktown due to flooding from unrelenting rain downpours.  300 were evacuated from Wujal Wujal.

The huge amount of rain being dumped on the Far North comes from the cyclone Jasper that slowly made its way in from the Coral Sea and is now a rain depression.

Flooding has cut roads around Cairns and shops are running low on stock as our intrepid Cairns FM 89.1 volunteer Amanda gives us the lowdown today speaking with Roderick.
