Fox News settles for record $1.2 Billion in defamation case

The voting machine maker Dominion had sued Fox News for defamation following sustained commentary on a number of its programs claiming that in the 2020 presidential election various types of ‘voting frauds’ had taken place.
This meant damage for Dominion’s brand as a company commissioned to count votes in various states and they lost business as a result.
Today just as the case was about to begin, Fox News sought a settlement that ended the action which would have seen Rupert Murdoch and Lachlan Murdoch and other senior executives and personalities from the popular Republican-leaning network forced to give evidence . But there could be more to come.
