F’tang Chats Plot, thus

Local post-rock instrumental outfit F’tang are back with a debut full-length in Plot, thus, released on DIY label Black Wire Records on 20 October. F’tang are what you get when you churn a cauldron with the colossal post-rock elements of Mogwai, the reverbed ambience of Tycho, the synth idiosyncrasies of Explosions in the Sky, the arpeggiated midwest emo leanings of American Football, and the intricate math-rock layers of toe.

Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jonathan Boulet of Party Dozen, Plot, thus is a beautifully realised and hypnotic record that channels all those elements into a lush collage of delicate textures and pastel soundscapes. Tom Houlahan, drummer, guitarist, synth programmer (basically all-round instrumentalist extraordinaire) of F’tang was on Monday Drive with Jono to chat more about the first new F’tang material in a decade.
