Face-to-face Therapy or App? The Future of Mental Health Treatment
According to the American Psychiatric Association, over 10 thousand depression and anxiety-related self-help apps exist. However, less than 1 percent of these have been professionally evaluated. The growth of mental health apps are due to play an important and additional role to conventional face-to-face therapy. With recent studies finding that more than 50 per cent of all mental illness emerges before the age of 18, smart phone apps may just be the accessible and convenient answer for a struggling youth.
