The Future of Urban Cemeteries
Most still consider the topic of death and burial taboo for polite conversation. However, we’re running out of space in our cemeteries and not much thought has been put in thus far about where we can build new ones. Even with traditional burial rates declining and alternative methods such as cremation and ‘green’ burials gaining popularity, there is still a need for burial plots moving forward. Nic spoke to Urbis researcher and planning consultant Kate Ryan on the logistical future of planning Sydney’s cemeteries.
