Gender Bias in the Recruitment Process

Have you been job hunting recently? Anyone who has gone through it knows it can be an exhausting process. Women in particular face an even tougher job search, with research showing gender bias dictates the type of language used by referees in recommendations and reference checks in the recruitment process. But are recommendations and reference checks a redundant practice in today’s workforce. The Daily spoke with Dr Melissa Wheeler, Research Fellow in the Department of Management and Marketing at the University of Melbourne to discuss more about this issue.
