Gender Split in Public Funding for Indigenous Students
The recent federal budget has included a 39.8-million-dollar expansion to the Clontarf Foundation’s Academy program for Indigenous boys and girls. However, a recent study has found programs for indigenous boys are receiving more funding than programs with girls. Between 2014 and 2019 the federal government funded nine programs by the Clontarf Foundation’s Academy But only four Aimed to work with young indigenous women. This gender split in public funding for indigenous programs should be addressed. 2SER was joined by stud Beth Madison, PhD candidate from the University of Queensland who led this study.
