Get Away with Dre – You Stayed Where?! Amazing Accommodations

The infamous accomodation website Airbnb was launched 16 years ago, on August 11 2008, and it quickly became a saviour to all holiday goers giving everyone a range of accommodation options to choose from, and extra cash for just about anyone to make.

But with great power, comes great responsibility, because just about everyone has a horror story or two about their airbnb experience. But we’re here to focus on the incredible stories about some of the most interesting places you can stay while your away overseas or on staycation.

The Last Blockbuster Store – Oregon, USA

Out of  accommodation market now because it was only available for a limited time, this gave you the chance to stay in the Last Standing Blockbuster Store in the world.

Rewind back to the ’90s, for a movie night that literally lasts for 1-night (because they only offered a 1-night stay). The entire store turned into a studio accommodation for 4-people.

It comes with a pull-out couch, bean bags, the choice of all the “new releases” from the ’90s, and all the luxuries that come with a movie night – complete with heavily-buttered popcorn, pizza slices, pepsi and video games.

It only became available for 3-nights because the actual Blockbuster store is still in operation. Sandi runs the store from 10:30am – 8pm Monday – Sunday, all thanks to the support of the local community.

Because of this, and to show their support, Airbnb made a donation to the Humane Society of Central Oregon for every booking made.

Stay in the Up house – New Mexico, USA

Stay in the home of Disney’s Pixar’s 2009 film Up. The directions on how to find it is “it’s the house with all the balloons” so you honestly can’t miss it.

It accommodates up to 4 guests – with 1 bedroom, 2 beds and 1 bathroom. If you’ve watched the movie, you can earn the ‘Wilderness Explorer’ badge with a wilderness adventure schedueled during the day – New Mexico is renown for that.

If you’ve watched the movie, you’re in for treat before you leave – you can actually watch the house “drift off”!

Both these listing were found in the Icon section of Airbnb, which gives you experiences hosted by the greats names in music, film, TV, art and sports. Other past stays were the Home Alone House, Barbie’s Mansion and the Ferrari Museum

There’s also the OMG! section on the website, which evokes just that in each accommodation listing:

Private Jet Villa – Indonesia

One not so-affordable – but definitely a spectacular experience – you can stay in the world’s first private jet villa.

In the Southern end of Bali in Kuta Selatan, located on a cliff overlooking Bali’s Nyang Nyang Beach a massive private jet is just parked there and welcomes the next crazy-rich-holiday-goers to a luxury stay like no other.

It accommodates 2 guests with 1 bedroom, 1 bed, 1 bathroom, a jacuzzi, a helicopter pad & infinite pool. Did we mention it comes with a butler service during your stay?

Board the aircraft by the stairs over the wing, which takes you straight into the living room and private bar – where your butler can make you drink.

It’s available till the end of December 2025, before it takes-off… not literally, or does it?
