Glebe locals fight for their homes
Glebe locals are holding monthly protests demanding an end to evictions and the sell-off of public housing. The state government now has its sights set on the Franklyn, Bay Streets public housing complex in Glebe where over 100 residents will be evicted in coming years. Like many blocks of public housing before it, the land will be sold to private property developers and redeveloped as high-rise apartments.
Thursday Drive presenter Beth Tracey spoke to Denis Doherty, leader of the community group ‘Hands Off Glebe’.
