Government Tourism and Aviation Rescue Package Rollout
The new $1.2 billion dollar ticket to tourism and aviation rescue package has turned state against state in its mission to provide an estimated 800,000 subsidised airfares on 13 government-nominated routes and tourist destinations. Corporate and international priority tourist destinations like Melbourne and Sydney have been neglected in this scheme, in addition to accommodation providers and tourism operators who are not receiving direct support. Professor Gui Lohmann – Head of School of Engineering and Built Environment at Griffith University joined us earlier to discuss the implications and equity of the scheme.
