GP’s Dispute Claims of Medicare Rorting
A joint investigation by the ABC, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald claims that up to $8 billion is lost by Medicare through fraud and error every year, detailing in a series of articles how doctors can abuse the bulk billing process to increase profits.
This is being contested by medical professionals, who say the research does not substantiate the claims, and warn of potential harm caused by decreased trust in GP’s.
