Gretta Ray on How She Converted Pain to Pop

Great pop music is all about capturing moments. From Carole King to Joni Mitchell to Taylor Swift, great pop songwriters can make the most intimate moment feel completely universal.

On Gretta Ray’s debut album Begin To Look Around, she does just that. Exploring pain and heartbreak and hope and laughter, the album can sometimes feel like it’s echoing thoughts in your own head – like all great albums should do.

It’s an incredible debut record and statement from Gretta, and she joined Mick & Jules on The Tuckshop to chat through how it all came together!
