The Growing Cost of Australia’s Offshore Detention Regime

With a humanitarian situation still unfolding on Manus Island following the closure of Australia’s Immigration detention centre earlier this month. It’s safe to say that Australia’s refugee policy is currently in a state of crisis. Now, Queensland construction firm Canstruct have disclosed the fact that they will be paid nearly 400 million dollars to provide services to Australia’s offshore detention centres in the next 12 months.
