Hairdressers join the fight against domestic violence

Hairdressers are taking up arms against domestic violence with a new program in Victoria teaching hairdressers how to treat victims of domestic violence, how to refer them to  professional counselors and even emergency shelters when appropriate- and there are plans to make the program Australia-wide.

Tess chatted with Jenny Jackson, the Executive Director for Eastern Domestic Violence Service (EDVOS) about where the idea for the program came from.

If you or anyone else you know are suffering from domestic violence, please call the National Sexual Assault, Domestic Family Violence Counselling Service on 1800 737 732- that’s 1800 RESPECT. It’s available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
