What happens when women have nowhere else to go?
Domestic violence victims make up 36 per cent of demand for homelessness services: that’s according to a new report by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
The report is the first one the Institute has done on the relationship between domestic violence and homelessness, and comes a few months after the New South Wales government agreed to continue funding women’s services and refuges until 2020.
Roxanne McMurray, spokesperson for Save Our Women’s Services and Manager of Leichhardt Women’s Health Center spoke to Mick about what this report means for women’s services in NSW.
