Harry Potter, Hunger Games salutes and pro-democracy protesters in Thailand
This year – young activists in Thailand dressed as Harry Potter are flashing the three-fingered salutes from the Hunger Games and demanding political change. In 2014 – the current prime minister took power in a coup and rewrote the constitution to extend the powers of the military and the monarchy. Protestors believe their votes in last year’s delayed general election were disregarded and they now demand the monarchy be reformed. One of the demonstrators is Surasak. He spoke with our producer Lucy Luo about the protests and how these actions could spur change.
