Head On Photo Fest with Hilda Bezuidenhout and Tania Browitt
Growing up during the South African Apartheid, photo-journalist Hilda Bezuidenhout harboured – what she termed – “tremendous guilt” when granted access to quality education, health, amongst other basic human rights, simply due to the colour of skin. The Population Registration Act automatically deemed black citizens excluded from basic rights such as these.
In a poignant photo series, Hilda exchanges her guilt for an admiration of her courageous and resilient friends.
Hilda, alongside Creative Space gallery owner Tania Browitt join us in the studio to discuss the exhibit moving audiences in Sydney.
