Help Build the Feather Map of Australia

Dr Kate Brandis is ruffling feathers all over Australia, literally! Dr Brandis is a Joint Research Fellow with UNSW’s Centre for Ecosystem Science and the Australian Nuclear Science Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and is the project leader of Feather Map of Australia. The Feather Map of Australia is a citizen science project where members of the public send in the feathers from waterbirds in their area. Feathers are pretty incredible and can tell scientists a lot about the bird it comes from, so this project is helping to track movements of Australia’s waterbirds to help maintain their habitat.

Do you have waterbirds in your area? You can still get involved in the project! You can send in feathers until 30 June 2018, check out the website for more information.
