High Court Challenge to Abortion Clinic Safe Zones
For the past two days, the High Court has been hearing a case which challenges the legality of safe zones around abortion clinics. Two protestors who were charged with violating the zones – one from Victoria, the other from Tasmania – claim these zones violate their right to political communication under the Constitution.
But is this form of protesting an act of political communication? Or is it simply harassment?
To discuss the case before the High Court and what effect it may have across the country, Thursday Daily’s Sam Baran was joined by Dr Tania Penovic, Deputy Director of the Castan Centre for Human Rights Law and Senior Lecturer in Law at Monash University.
